Loafing sheds in North Florida: what to know

A loafing shed gives cattle somewhere to stand out of the sun and rain without shutting them in. The back wall and ends are sheeted, and the front stays open toward the pasture or lot. Depth is the number to think hardest about: a deep shed keeps the bedded area dry when rain blows in sideways, and a tall open front keeps air moving on hot days. Concrete along the front edge keeps the opening from turning into a mud hole where the cattle come and go.
